The Vampire Diaries has trained us to be cool with the fictional existence of vampires, werewolves, and witches, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t logic inconsistencies in this show that irk us enough to pull us out of the story. Here are the logic fails for Season 6, Episode 10 (“Christmas Through Your Eyes”).
The inconsistencies of vampire blood. When news of Liz Forbes’ illness hit, our first thought was: heal her with vampire blood! But, according to Stefan, vampire blood can’t cure cancer or “we would have heard about it.” Terrible logic, Stefan. Plus, we’ve already seen vampire blood cure a cerebral hemorrhage and heart disease on this show. This feels a bit too plot convenient.
Not killing intended victims immediately. We’re glad Enzo pointed this one out because the period of time people will wait to kill of their enemies is getting kind of ridiculous. We’re not just calling Matt out on this one. Kai should have already merged with Jo, given that he is using stolen magic that will not last him forever. And, if he wants to punish Damon by killing Elena, then why doesn’t get just get it over with?
Could we turn Liz into a vampire? While we’re on the Let’s Not Let Liz Die subject, could we maybe just turn her into a vampire please? No one presented this option and maybe it’s because Liz would be against the idea, but it seems as if someone — read: Caroline — should brought it up already. This whole storyline could be great, but right now it feels a bit like a convoluted plot development to bring Steroline closer together. Liz deserves better. Not to mention it would be cool to see a vampire over the age of 40 on this show.
Damon’s nostalgia. We’re sure it must be nice to be back in Mystic Falls, but Damon’s appreciation over returning to his house seemed a little out of balance considering, until a week or so ago, he was stuck in the prison-world version of the Salvatore mansion for months and months.
