We’re still reeling from the final moments of The Vampire Diaries mid-season finale. What does Kai want with Elena? When will everyone notice she’s gone? How far will Damon go to get her back? We don’t have definitive answers to all of these questions, but the promo for Season 6, Episode 11 (“Woke Up With A Monster”) gives us some hints. Here’s the full breakdown.
Dead guy dinner. Kai may be twisted, but at least he keeps his captives well-fed. In the promo, we see him and Elena sitting at a table in the Mystic Grill, a dead dude in the middle of the table. Better or worse than the Thanksgiving dinner Kai cooked Bonnie?
Elena is confused. And angry. “What am I doing here, Kai?” Elena asks in the promo. She looks seriously pissed. But, hey, at least she’s not dead. Yet.
Damon is worried. Don’t worry, guys. Unlike that time Katherine jumped into Elena’s bod, it doesn’t take long for everyone to figure out that Elena is missing. And, by everyone, we mean Damon. At :07, we see him ask: “Where’s Elena?” And, friends, he looks very concerned.

Torture time. At :11, we see Elena strung up in the Mystic Falls hallway while Kai comes at her with his hand raised, magic style. Sparks fly and Elena looks worried. Is Kai torturing Elena or is TVD just torturing us viewers with worry through the holiday season?
Damon regrets not killing Kai. “I should have gouged his little eyes out when I had the chance,” Damon tells someone, angrily, presumably in reference to Kai. Is this going to become another rift in the Alaric/Damon relationship? After all, it was Ric who chose not to kill Kai because Jo thought she could beat him.
Romancing Elena. Things are about to get creepy in cloaksville. At :15, we see someone stroke Elena’s cheek and, judging by her subtle yet tepid reaction, we’re guessing it’s Kai? The shot of Kai telling Elena, “I’m starting to see why Damon digs you,” is a pretty big clue, too. Ew.
