The Vampire Diaries Season 6 — When Does it Return?

Tonight’s epic Season 5 finale of The Vampire Diaries — Season 5, Episode 22 (“Home”) — delivered in the Mystic Falls gang ridding their town of the Travelers, though we were left on a bit of a cliffhanger regarding the lives of Damon Salvatore and Bonnie Bennett handing in the balance. We have to wait until Season 6 to see what happens — but when does it return?
The Vampire Diaries got renewed for Season 6 back in February — though we still don’t know exactly when the show will premiere. Season 1 through Season 3 of the show premiered in the month of September, though October became the month of choice the past two seasons. Season 4 premiered on October 11th while Season 5 premiered on October 3rd — so it’s pretty safe to assume that The CW will probably schedule it for sometime around then.
More importantly, however, is the fact that we already know Alaric Saltzman will be returning as a series regular next year. That being said, the fates of Damon and Bonnie are still hanging in the balance, so we’ll have to wait a long, long summer to see if they’ll be returning or not.
