Vampire Diaries Season 6: Stefan and Caroline Would Be "Awkward" For Elena

Paul Wesley seems totally into a romantic development in the Steroline friendship on The Vampire Diaries, but how does Nina Dobrev think her characters would react to bestie Caroline and ex-boyfriend Stefan getting together?
Nina told TVLine that she has a hunch Elena will “figure out a way to be OK” with a Steroline romance, adding: “It’s going to be a little awkward, but let’s be real, who is Elena to judge? She dated a brother, then dated his brother, then went back and forth. She can’t say anything. She has no right.”
We love Nina! Though, just because someone doesn’t have the right to judge, doesn’t mean they won’t — especially in TV drama. On the other hand, we have a feeling that Elena might still be too distracted with her grief over losing Damon to worry too much about romantic entanglements come Season 6.
As for Paul, he’s all on board with Steroline happening — in fact, he thinks they should skip right past the dating Lexi suggested and go straight for the sex: “They need to have sex, just get right to it,” Paul joked. “We’d have sex in the Salvatore crypt. That’s the way to go, man.” We’re not so sure Steroline will be knocking boots come the Season 6 premiere, but you never know. There will be a “substantial time jump” between season and tragedy has a way of changing people and their perspectives on how they’re living their lives. Will a Steroline romance be one such result?
