Vampire Diaries Season 6 Spoiler: Stefan Will Be a Changed Man!

The Season 5 finale of The Vampire Diaries was a game-changing moment for our heroes and this show. None of these characters will be the same come Season 6 — perhaps most especially Stefan, whose brother sacrificed himself to give him a chance at living. What did TVD executive producer have to say about Stefan’s mindset heading into Season 6?
"It's really a character-defining journey for [Stefan], and it'll change him quite a lot," Julie told TV Guide. "At what point does he decide to give up or keep searching for answers?” Character-defining journey, eh? Changed quite a lot? Has he gotten a buzz cut?!
Frankly, it’s hard to imagine Stefan as anything but the brooding hero-haired gentleman vampire we’ve known and loved him as since Season 1. Well, except Ripper Stefan and Amnesiac Stefan and Silas-pretending-to-be-Stefan. But, other than that, totally new territory. In all seriousness, we’re intrigued to see how Stefan is dealing with this tragedy. Though he has suffered a lot during his 170-odd years in existence, his brother has always been a certainty (even if that certainty was Damon causing the aforementioned suffering). This kind of change-up has got to mess with a vampire’s hero-haired headspace, you know?
As for how Damon’s apparent death might affect Stefan’s relationship to Elena. Nina told TV Guide: "If you look back to Season 1, it's been very hectic for her and it's nice [for her and Stefan] to be in a settled place. But it's the CW; we're not going to stay there for very long.” So, at least Stefan and Elena will have one another to lean on — at least for the first 15 minutes of Season 6. After that, all bets are off.
