Vampire Diaries Spoilers: Can Stefan and Caroline "Repair Their Friendship?"

Despite Damon’s return, Stefan and Caroline are more estranged than ever on The Vampire Diaries. Will they ever be able to repair their once-awesome friendship? Executive producer Julie Plec chatted with E! Online on the very sensitive subject."Caroline hoped that if Damon ever came back, she would get Stefan back too," Julie teased. "She's still very hurt, and he has amends to make, so we'll see in the coming episodes whether they can find a way to repair their friendship."

That sounds vaguely promising — especially the “amends to make” part. Caroline told Stefan she no longer wants to be his friend, but that was after she gave him a chance to make his recent behavior up to her and he came up flat. We have a feeling that, if Stefan puts some real effort into winning Caroline back, then these two besties stand a chance. And we think that chance might come in the form of Caroline’s own time-of-need.

“But Caroline is going to be going through some stuff that in her mind will allow Stefan to come back into her life,” executive producer Caroline Dries told TV Guide. “Their relationship will continue to be friends, but now that Caroline has these deep feelings, every time they're in a scene together it still feels charged — so we'll continue to play their friendship-romance situation hoping some good juice will come out of it.”

Sign us up for more Steroline scenes, then — starting with Thursday’s Season 6, Episode 7 (“Do You Remember The First Time?”). We know from the promo photos that Stefan and Caroline will have at least one “charged” scenes together. How will these two move forward after their “charged” scene last week? And when will their scenes finish charging and evolve into something more?
