Thanksgiving Dinner

Vampire Diaries Season 6 Spoilers: Caroline's Thanksgiving Dinner Together

Hungry for some turkey dinner? The Vampire Diaries star Candice Accola recently took to WhoSay to share a photo from the TVD set. The subject: a scrumptious-looking Thanksgiving dinner. Does this mean TVD is finally recognizing Thanksgiving as an actual thing? Gosh, we hope so.
“SetDec&Props have me craving Thanksgiving dinner on set today #tvd6 #stuffing&turkey&cranberriesOHMY,” Candice captioned the WhoSay photo of a Gothicly-beautiful dinner set-up oddly reminiscent of the “My Dinner Date With…” series The CW has been using to promote Season 6 of TVD.

Fingers so crossed for a Thanksgiving-themed TVD episode. Some of our favorite television episodes of all time are set around the American holiday. (Gossip Girl, we’re looking at you.) And a Thanksgiving episode always seemed such a natural narrative for TVD to tell. This is a show that frequently flashes back to eras long ago and whose main setting — Mystic Falls — is obsessed with history. When has the Virginian hamlet ever turned down an opportunity to get dressed up and take part in some convoluted historical narrative?
We’re especially intrigued by the prospect of TVD for Season 6. Its theme of “You can’t go home again” could tie in nicely with the generally family-centric holiday that has college students returning home to celebrate with their loved ones. What will this mean for Caroline and the other vampire residents of Mystic Falls who can’t go home? What does family even mean for a group of people who have lost so much and drifted so far apart?
Basically, bring on the turkey.
The Vampire Diaries airs Thursday nights at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
