Back to the ‘90s in “Black Hole Sun”

The Vampire Diaries Synopsis: Season 6, Episode 4 — Back to the ‘90s in “Black Hole Sun”

The Vampire Diaries is going totally ‘90s for Season 6, Episode 4. The episode, aptly titled after the Soundgarden song “Black Hole Sun,” has Damon reliving “one of the worst days of his life.”

According to the official synopsis, “when Damon and Bonnie realize that uncovering a time in Damon’s past may provide clues to finding their way home, Damon is forced to relive one of the worst days of his life.” This clearly means that whatever went down on May 10, 1994—the day Bonnie and Damon keep reliving—has resulted in Bamon’s current situation. Are they stuck in the ‘90s because of something Damon did in his past? Most likely, yes—and we can't wait to see this flashback to Damon and Stefan's past!
Meanwhile, “after an awkward run-in with Jo (guest star Jodi Lyn O’Keefe) at the hospital, Alaric steps in to help Jeremy get his life together and cope with the loss of Bonnie.” It’s about time someone paid attention to Jeremy! Sure, he may be separated from his family by a magical barrier, but that doesn’t give him an excuse to throw his life away. Sure, in Season 1 emo Jeremy was kinda adorable, but now, it’s just sad. We get it, Jer. You’re really sad. But Elena is sad too. Maybe you two could support each other or something? At least Alaric is there to help put the pieces back together.
As for Stefan, well, he “attempts to show Elena what it’s like to start over and create a new identity.” This will probably make some Delena fans angry, but it sounds to us like this is purely platonic. We’re glad to see Stelena in a platonic relationship; they work much better as friends. But Stefan is in for a surprise when “an unexpected visitor shows up.” Obviously, the unexpected visitor is Ivy—and we can’t wait to see how Caroline reacts.
Elsewhere, “an unsuspecting Matt finds himself in a disturbing situation when Tripp lets him in on a dark secret.” Is this the moment we’ve all been waiting for? Is Matt Blue Eyes finally going to come face to face with his dad? Or is Tripp some other supernatural secret? We’ll have the wait to find out!
Catch this episode of The Vampire Diaries on Thursday, October 23 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
