The Vampire Diaries Burning Question: Will Stefan Return to Mystic Falls?

When The Vampire Diaries picks up for Season 6, Stefan Salvatore will apparently be oh-so-far away from Mystic Falls. What gives, Stef? We know that he can’t hang out there right now because it’s a supernatural-free zone, but he could probably find another mansion in the neighboring town. Will Stefan return to Mystic Falls in Season 6? We speculate below

No, it hurts too damn much. Sometimes, it’s easy to forget that Stefan Salvatore was born and raised in Mystic Falls because it was so, so long ago. But the Virginian hamlet is his home, filled with memories of the good times and the bad, and that’s exactly the problem. With the apparent death of his big brother, we’d imagine that, for Stefan, walking through Mystic Falls is like getting continually pricked with a needle in the feels. Memories of Damon around every corner. Would you be trying to break the supernatural-free spell on the town if all it held for you were memories of your dead brother? Yeah, probably not.

No, Mystic Falls is taking this supernatural-free thing seriously. Regardless of how Stefan feels about returning to Mystic Falls, the militia led by new character Tripp is probably going to have something to say about it. They seem to want to keep their town vampire-free, and can you really blame them? This means that, even if Stefan wants to return to Mystic Falls, Mystic Falls might not let him.

Yes, his friends need him. Stefan may have a sulky streak, but he also has a heroic one. He’s a total sap and he hates to leave the people who care about him in the lurch. Right now, most of his friends can’t return to their home, which has got to be a total bummer, especially for Caroline and Elena, who have family there. We think Stefan may put aside his feels and team up with the rest of the fang gang to take back his town. (Don’t worry. There will still be plenty of brooding in this scenario.)
