Vampire Diaries Season 6 Poster Revealed
Sure, we’ve been anxiously awaiting the Season 6 premiere of The Vampire Diaries, but we’ve been even more excited to see the new art featuring the cast we adore. Thank goodness BuzzFeed has our first look at this season’s poster and, like all others that have come before, it’s got us sweating and over-analyzing pretty much everything! Check out our breakdown below.
Bamon is separated from the group. One of the biggest puzzles we’ve been trying to piece together all summer is where Damon and Bonnie ended up once the Other Side collapsed in the Season 5 finale. We’ve been speculating for quite some time now, but this poster is making us question everything. With Damon turned slightly to the side, he’s separating himself and Bonnie from the rest of the group — maybe they won’t make their way back to their loved ones as early as we thought.
Another thought is that perhaps Bamon is in some sort of dark realm that runs parallel to where everyone else is. We know they’re somewhere “familiar” yet “foreign” and considering the clock towers — both of which read 7:01 — flanking the photo, they’re not too far away from everyone else. Think The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess where there’s a “light world” and a “dark world.” Hence the dark clock tower and the light clock tower.
Stelena is holding hands. On the complete opposite side of the poster from Bamon, we see Elena and Stefan holding hands. We don’t think this is any indication that Stelena is going to be getting romantic again — the show’s pretty much made Delena endgame by now — but it’s lovely to see these two showing their love for one another by being there when they need a shoulder to lean on the most. Hopefully Stefan won’t be away from his friends for too long and Elena gets over that “witchy drug problem” sooner rather than later.
Enzo is between Elena and Stefan. We’re so thrilled that Enzo has joined the cast as a series regular — something that hardly ever happens. This character totally won our hearts last year and hopefully his placement on the poster means that he’s gelling with the group even with Damon out of the picture. We certainly don’t want him to be causing any trouble this season. Be on your best behavior, Enzo!
Caroline is on the ground. Why is Caroline the only character on the ground? We are almost certain that the Powers That Be would never kill off our Vampire Barbie, but her placement in the poster seems troubling. We know she’ll be struggling to keep her friends together this season, so we hope she doesn’t get overwhelmed by everything going on around her. Maybe she’s just tired? Being that fabulous must take a toll, right?
Tyler + full moon = trouble. One shocker from the Season 5 finale that hasn’t been discussed so much is the fact that Tyler is no longer a hybrid and his werewolf gene is back to not being activated. That’s right, we have another human to keep Matt and Jeremy company. It looks like Tyler’s having some sort of reaction to the full moon behind him — which begs the question of whether or not he’s going to kill someone and reactivate the werewolf gene. He’s hunched over like he’s transitioning, but we’re hoping he’ll hold on to his human side for at least a little while.
Everyone else. We’re glad to see Alaric back, but homeslice isn’t really doing much in this poster. He’s joined the likes of Matt and Jeremy, who are just standing there. If you want to read anything into their placement in juxtaposition to the group, Jeremy is trailing behind — will he die? — and Alaric is close to Elena — he’ll be a rock for her. As for Matt, well, he’s just Matt.
