The Vampire Diaries Season 6 Premiere Spoilers Roundup — Everything You Need to Know
Believe it or not, The Vampire Diaries Season 6 premiere is only a week away! But that doesn’t mean you have to wait until next Thursday to unlock all of its secrets. Here is everything you need to know about Season 6, Episode 1 (“I’ll Remember”).
Four months will have passed. That’s right, TVD is making a time jump, which means much will have changed since we last saw the fang gang. Though Damon and Bonnie’s apparent deaths will still be having a major effect on these characters, they won’t be in the immediate aftermath of their losses. And Whitmore College will be up and running for Elena and Caroline’s sophomore year!
Elena has a witchy drug problem. According to the synopsis, Elena has spent the last four months, “coping with the loss of Damon in an unconventional and potentially dangerous way.” We think this may refer to her “witchy drug problem” that Caroline alludes to in this Season 6 trailer. Whatever the method (which may involve feeding on people, from the looks of this trailer), it apparently helps Elena to hallucinate (or actually interact with?) Damon.
Caroline is all about “fixing” Mystic Falls. As we can see from this sneak peek featuring Caroline and her momma, Sheriff Forbes, the two have spent the summer hanging out together — outside of Mystic Falls. The town is still a no-supernatural zone after the spell the Travelers cast at the end of Season 5. Caroline is “desperate to find a way to reverse [it].”
Steroline is on the rocks. If you thought that these two would fall into each others’ arms after the heavy hinting at the end of last season, then you would be wrong. According to Julie Plec, Stefan’s “determination to move on and start a new life after the loss of his brother may ultimately ruin the friendship he's built with [Caroline] over the years." Not to mention the synopsis hint that Caroline is “grow[ing] frustrated when her calls to Stefan go unanswered.”
Tyler is human again. That’s right, folks! A side effect of dying from the anti-magic spell, then getting resurrected from the Other Side? Coming back human. Tyler will be struggling to keep his rage in check so as not to re-trigger the werewolf gene. We’re taking bets now. But you should probably check out this premiere promo photo before you place them.
Tyler and Liv are getting flirty. Holy sexual tension! Liv and Tyler totally have the banter flirting thing down in this sneak peek into the first episode. Might this be the blossoming of a new TVD romance?
Jeremy is self-destructive. Again. It seems that Jeremy is reverting back to “self-destructive” mode after the apparent death of Bonnie. Matt is super worried about him, according to the synopsis. Which is why their friendship may be our favorite on the show. (Especially with Steroline on the outs.)
Alaric is back in the classroom — and struggling. Alaric is back from the Other Side, and back in the classroom — this time, at Whitmore College. In this sneak peek, we see him teaching a roomful of students (including Elena, Tyler, and Liv) History of the Occult. Awkward? It isn’t all collegiate clam backs for Professor Saltzman, however. He is “struggling to adjust to his new life as a vampire.” Not to mention the apparent death of his BFF.
Meet Dr. Jo. There’s a new university doctor in town, and she’s played by the beautiful Jodi Lyn O’Keefe. Alaric will find himself “in an awkward situation when he meets Jo,” which sounds (and looks) like the beginning of a romantic comedy to us. With Elena declaring pre-med as her major, we have a feeling that these two characters will be spending some time together, too.
Stefan has found a new bed buddy. Though the general consensus is that Stefan is off trying to find a way to get Bamon back, he’s really been shacking up with the “quintessential girl next door with an unexpected wild side,” Ivy (played by Emily C. Chang). In this trailer, we see the two sharing some pillow talk — namely, Stefan flat-out confessing that he is a vampire. Yikes!
Alaric and Caroline are hanging out. With Stefan gone, Caroline needs someone new to bounce ideas off of, and it looks like that person might be Alaric? In this promo photo for the first episode, we see the two hanging at a diner together. We could get on board with this friendship.
Meet Tripp, Matt’s possible father?! We’ll also meet new character Tripp (Colin Ferguson) in the season premiere. We know that he is “a strong and disciplined head of a community militia and surrogate father to his young trainees who will do anything to protect his town.” But could he be Matt’s biological father, too?
Season 6 of The Vampire Diaries premieres Thursday, October 2, at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
