Who Will Die in Season 6?

The Vampire Diaries Speculation: Who Will Die in Season 6?

What's the point of destroying an entire supernatural purgatory, collapsing the system that allows dead supernaturals to live on as ghosts, is you're not going to kill anyone off in the following season? The Vampire Diaries pulled the aforementioned in the Season 5 finale, which leads us to ask the question: who will die in Season 6? Here are our best guesses.

Tyler. We've been predicting demise for a while now. We love the former hybrid, but he's one of the more expendable of the main cast members. Now that he's human again, he's even more vulnerable to untimely death. TVD will be exploring Tyler's rage in Season 6, telling the story of his struggle not to trigger the werewolf curse. Will Tyler choose to die rather than become what he once was? If he has to choose between killing someone else and triggering the werewolf curse and letting himself die, which will he go with? For a show in which murder is undertaken by the main characters relatively casually, the former would actually be the greater shock.

A wonder twin. Witch twins Liv and Luke were one of the most delightful additions to the TVD cast in Season 5. We're really pulling for this brother and sister to get a happy ending — we just doubt that both of them will find it. Let's face it: characters are created on this show to eventually be killed off in heartbreaking and probably gruesome manner. TVD might be able to find a way to keep one of these newbies around, but we highly doubt both will survive Season 6. So, which one will bite the bullet? Don’t make us choose! Though Liv was introduced sooner, Luke got some additional screen time later in the season. This one could go either way.

Bonnie. We know, we know. She's kind of already dead, but she and Damon are going to be back — in some form — for Season 6, so we think she’s still eligible for this list. These characters’ business will be in finding their ways back to their loved ones and, as much as we want to believe that Grams thought well enough ahead to include a plus one in Bonnie's Get Out of Death Free ticket, we doubt she did. In the end, we think only one of either Damon or Bonnie will survive, and, of the two, Bonnie has more practice at being self-sacrificial. Out of the two, Bonnie is also the one who arguably had the better death scene in the sense that her death was a choice she made (or, at the very least, accepted), whereas Damon’s — though a result of his own actions — was still a bit of a surprise.

Sheriff Forbes. Guys, we're really worried about Sheriff Forbes. She may have still been alive (somehow) after the explosion that rocked the Mystic Grill, but we're not sure if she'll survive past the season opener. She didn’t look too good amidst the rubble. We’re especially worried given the rumor that Matt Donovan will be playing cop in Season 6. Did Liz's death leave a job opening? There would be something oddly (and tragically) fitting about Liz dying in a season premiere, as it was also a season premiere that saw Caroline die (and turned vamp).
