Vampire Diaries executive producer Julie Plec teased that everyone will deal with the deaths of Damon and Bonnie differently — some will live in denial, some will keep fighting, and some have given up altogether. Where does Stefan fall on that spectrum? Read on to find out!
"It's really a character-defining journey for [Stefan], and it'll change him quite a lot," Julie told TV Guide. "At what point does he decide to give up or keep searching for answers?" Er, so it’s a matter of when rather than if when it comes to Stefan giving up on Damon? Given that Season 6 will pick up after a "substantial time jump",” we can see how this might be true. Though we know Damon and Bonnie are still running around out there somewhere, the TVDers have no such comfort. It sounds like we may get to see Stefan make that decision to stop making his seemingly long-dead brother a priority.
We wonder if Caroline might be part of Stefan’s transition out of fighting mode and into acceptance? There were some pretty large Steroline hints dropped in the Season 5 finale and we know that Caroline will have her eye on someone in the upcoming season — is that person Stefan? Even if these two don’t turn romantic, we know Care will be there for her bestie. She’s never left him to deal with the hard stuff alone before. We can’t imagine she’ll start with the hardest thing of all.
