"The Vampire Diaries" is bringing more drama to the town of Mystic Falls on CW, but one member of the cast is already looking ahead at his life after the series wraps completely. On March 12, Collider shared a new interview with Paul Wesley, who is the actor behind Stefan Salvatore on the series. Wesley is currently busy promoting a film project that is close to his heart at SXSW, and he spoke about the future of the television series.
This CW series has already been renewed for a sixth season, but Paul Wesley does see the end of the series in sight. During the interview, he revealed that the series will end 'relatively soon.' Could that mean the end will come after season six? That is likely.
Most series on CW last six seasons and end. "Gossip Girl" ended with a short season six. "90210" ended at the end of season five. "One Tree Hill" did go a bit longer and end with season nine, but it came from The WB. The same can be said for "Smallville" and its ten season run.
Paul Wesley is looking ahead though, and he knows he wants to produce and direct. He did direct an upcoming episode of "The Vampire Diaries" this season, and he has his first producing credit on "Before I Disappear." That is the film he is promoting at SXSW this week. The actor has his focus set, but he wants to end the series right too.
