Will Matt Donovan Find Love in Season 6?

Will The Vampire Diaries blue-eyed bartender Matt Donovan (Zach Roerig) find love in Season 6? We never thought we’d say this, but: yes. According to Zap2it, Matt will most likely be getting some romance in the upcoming season. Finally.

Matty Blue Eyes hasn’t had the best luck in the romance department. Elena dumped him. Caroline turned into a vampire, Rebekah got her own spin-off, and Nadia died before they could properly explore their feelings for one another. Basically: Mystic Falls’ resident human doesn’t get any love. But, according to executive producer Caroline Dries, that will change in Season 6.

When asked about Matt’s prospects in the upcoming season, Caroline told Zap2it: "Poor Matt. Yes, I think so. We're going to try something in Season 6 that we've been percolating on that I think will really help Matt's storyline. It's hard to give him these overarching love storylines because we're just like, what's the genre? Genre, genre, genre. It's hard because we have like 40 hundred thousand characters on the show, you know? To give them all very interesting, dynamic storylines is hard but we have something planned for him."

Yeah, give Matt some love! But what is this about trying something with Matt’s storyline? He’s not turning vamp, is he? Doubtful. This show needs at least one non-supernatural. Perhaps, it has something to do with his connection to the Other Side. With every death whilst wearing the Gilbert Ring, Matt seems to spend more and more time hanging in the supernatural purgatory. Will this become a major part of his life in Season 6? Will he spend just as much time with the dead as the living? Perhaps, leading to a rekindling of the romance with Nadia? This seems like it could end in tragedy, but — let’s face it — TVD has always loved to stomp on fans’ hearts, and there’s no quicker way to do that than going after Matt. Or, maybe he’ll start dating Elena again? We’re only half-kidding.
