Is The Vampire Diaries Pulling a Walking Dead in Season 5?

The Vampire Diaries cast and crew is  busy filming the final episodes of Season 5, and it sounds like things are getting intense — like, Walking Dead intense. What did Michael Trevino (Tyler Lockwood) tease about an upcoming scene?

“425 am. Wrapped. Home. Today/Tonight on location in the woods felt like filming an ep of Walking Dead, and it was only 85 degrees,” Michael recently tweeted. We think Michael may be referring to the extremely hot temperatures the Walking Dead gang films in, but we can’t help but wonder if he might be referring to other likenesses between the two series. Are the TVDers about to be chased through the Mystic Falls woods by a horde of zombies? We quasi-jest, but that might not be so far from the truth. We know that the Other Side is disintegrating, do all of the dead supernaturals currently residing there jump ship for Mystic Falls? Or, perhaps, Tyler’s scene takes place on the Other Side. Not to be too alarmist, but he is one of the characters we predicted might not make it through the season.

Wherever the zombie horde takes place, we hope it involves some of our favorite deceased characters. We’ve already seen Kol in the promos (and Kol hanging with Dr. Wes in this Instagram shot), but who else might grace our screens? Julie Plec spoke of the season’s ending bringing “rebirth.” Possible candidates: Alaric, Nadia, Katherine, Silas, Tessa, Vicki. A possible zombie horde has never been so good-looking!
