The Vampire Diaries is through fooling us with fake Sarah Salvatores. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series has cast Tristin Mays as Stefan and Damon’s very distant relative — great niece, to be exact. Read on for more details!

Earlier in Season 6 we met a fake Sarah Salvatore that turned out to be just a college friend of the real one. Tristin’s character is described as “a bright and gifted student of photography, whose life is turned upside down as she unravels the mystery of her true family history.” Little does Sarah know the drama she’s about to get herself into.
Tristin will make her grand debut in the Season 6 midseason premiere — Season 6, Episode 11 (“Woke Up With a Monster”) — on January 22. According to the synopsis for the episode, Caroline Forbes and Stefan will travel to North Carolina to search for a cure for her mother. Stefan has his own intentions (remember Sarah goes to Duke University) and will find out that Enzo is trolling him hoping to learn his secret. Also, a “surprising visitor” will show up and take Damon by surprise — will it be Sarah?
“Hello all #TVD fans!” Tristin, who appears in The Wedding Singer alongside Kevin Hart and Josh Gad,” wrote on Twitter yesterday, January 15. “I'm overwhelmed by your amazing presence. Thank you for the warm welcome! Super excited to join the family. Xo.”
