Vampire Diaries Season 6 Spoilers: Elena Has a New Love Interest

Season 6 of The Vampire Diaries is sure to be a confusing time for our girl Elena. Damon, the love of her life, is apparently dead. (But still somewhat accessible via witchy drug-induced hallucinations?) Best friend Bonnie was seemingly taken out in the same Other Side-collapsing tragedy.Elena is doing her best to move on with her life. Will this include any new love interests?

It sounds like a non-Salvatore romance may be on the horizon for Elena. According to TVLine, Elena will be “locking lips with a handsome fella” in Season 6, Episode 3. And it won’t be Damon!

Who could it be? Well, TVD executive producer Julie Plec talked to E! Online on the subject. She confirmed that there will be a new man in Elena’s life and, while she might not be into him (yet), he is definitely into her. Our money is on Liam, a “cocky yet good-natured” guy who’s a “med student who comes from a family of doctors.”

“We’ve already said about the first episode, the second episode, her methods are extremely controversial and kind of self-destructive,” Julie teased. “So, as she tries to pull herself together, there actually is a character that floats around in her college universe who clearly has eyes for her. Whether she has eyes for him, you know, that’s too soon to tell because, of course, she’s lost the love of her life.”

Sounds like an emotional train wreck waiting to happen... We can’t wait.

The Vampire Diaries Season 6 premieres Thursday, October 2, at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
