"Most Unaffected" Doppelganger

Nina Dobrev Teases Originals Crossover: Tatia Is the "Most Unaffected" Doppelganger

We can’t wait to see Nina Dobrev appear on The Originals as Tatia, a Petrova doppelganger both Klaus and Elijah loved and lost. Her blood was used by their mother Esther in the very spell used to turn the Mikaelsons immortal. What else will we learn about the beloved Tatia in the Season 2, Episode 5 flashbacks? Nina teases the can’t miss crossover!"She's the very first doppelganger so she doesn't have the history of all the other doppelgangers behind her,” Nina told The Hollywood Reporter. “She is the purest of them all, she's the most unaffected, she's the most regular — almost like how Elena was before all this s—t happened."
But don’t get too attached to Tatia. Not only because Nina already has a full-time job appearing onThe Vampire Diaries so we probably won’t be seeing much of her, but because we know how this story ends. Not well.
"But it definitely catches up to her as any character on this show affected by all these supernatural beings [are],” Nina continued. “It doesn't really go well for her. It's all about love and happiness until everything goes wrong."
As you can see in this amazing scene from Season 3 of TVD when Tatia was first introduced, Klaus and Elijah came to blows over their love for the “exquisitely beautiful” doppelganger. When she wouldn’t choose between the two, the brothers became estranged for a time. (These two, at odds?! Can’t imagine what that looks like.) To keep Tatia away from both her sons, Esther snatched her and used her blood in the Original Vampire Recipe. Harsh.
Could this plot point play a role in current-day NOLA? After all, Esther is back from the dead to torment her children, and the best flashbacks are ones that have relevancy in the present. Is there a chance that Tatia didn’t die back in the day? Will Esther reveal an even more horrible truth about what happened to the lovely doppelganger?
Catch Nina’s crossover episode of The Originals on Monday, November 3 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
