10 Burning Questions!

The Vampire Diaries Season 6 Premiere: 10 Burning Questions

The Vampire Diaries is back, baby! The Season 6 premiere caught us up with our heroes four months after the loss of Bonnie and Damon in the collapse of the Other Side. We loved the four-month time jump, but it has left us with a lot of questions. Here are 10 burning questions fromSeason 6, Episode 1 (“I’ll Remember”).
How will Alaric’s compulsion work? OK, we’ve pretty much accepted that Alaric is going to go along with Elena’s wish to compel her memories of having loved Damon away. But what does that entail exactly? Will she forget Damon altogether? Will she forget other things? Will she fall back in love with Stefan? These all seem like important questions.

Where are Bonnie and Damon? We’ve been asking this question all summer, but our curiosity was only further stirred in the Season 6 premiere. Because all we got was a glimpse at Damon and Bonnie’s flipping breakfast routine. Yes, it was adorable, but give us more information, show! Luckily, we will find out where Bamon is in next week’s episode.
Are there any long-term effects from those witch-drugs? Are we the only ones worried about possible long term side effects from Elena’s psychotropic witch-drug addiction? This doesn’t seem like the kind of habit you can just kick — even if you do forget about the grief that started the addiction. You know?
Will Tyler and Liv hook up? We were cautiously intrigued by the flirty development between Tyler and Liv. Tyler seems to really like Liv, opening up to her about his man-rage. But what about Liv? Alaric told Tyler she’s just not that into you, but we call shenanigans. We think Liv might have a thing for the newly human bro.
What is up with Caroline? We know the Care Bear is having a tough time of it what with the loss of Mystic Falls and her bestie, but we’re not sure how to feel about a storyline that has Caroline dropping out of her school to read books. Couldn’t she research how to break the Mystic Falls spell for Alaric’s class? Sure, Caroline is having a hard time, but doesn’t that usualy result in multi-tasking?
Has Stefan really given up on Damon? We wouldn’t blame Stefan for taking a breather from his search for a way to bring his big brother back from the dead, but would it really look like this? He could do better than getting underpaid to change people’s oil. Is Stefan following a lead in Savannah? Could his new bed buddy Ivy be that lead?
Will Matt go along with Caroline’s plan? Matt may be helping his friends keep their supernatural secrets as Caroline looks for a way to break the magic-free spell on Mystic Falls, but someone tell his mouth that. He gave not one, but twospeeches about how he hopes to protect the people of Mystic Falls. Will he eventually realize that helping Caroline break the spell might not be the best way to do that?
Does Tripp know about vampires? We only got to spend the briefest of time with community militia leader Tripp, but we know he will be an important character moving forward. Does he know about vampires? Does he know about the magic-free spell? Adults in this town tend to know about Mystic Falls’ supernatural legacies. Is he one of them?
How powerful is Alaric? Alaric is like no other vampire we’ve met before. He was turned with the Original vampire spell by Esther, but was made immune to the white oak stake. His vampire life was linked to Elena’s before he died. Is that still in effect? In addition to his powers of compulsion over other vampires, what strengths does he have? How will they come into play moving forward?
Does Jo have ulterior motives? Another new character introduced in the premiere, Dr. Jo, has connections to both Elena and Alaric. Call us paranoid, but she has instigated both relationships to some extent — calling on Elena in class even when her hand wasn’t raised and approaching Alaric at a college party. Coincidence or is Dr. Jo up to something? (Never trust a doctor on this show!)
Catch the next episode of The Vampire Diaries on Thursday, October 9 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
