 7 Juicy Tidbits We Noticed!

We may have been freaking out over the first Vampire Diaries Season 6 trailer — you know, the one where we learn Elena Gilbert has a “witchy drug problem” — but that pales in comparison to the feels we’re getting over this new footage. The CW just released a 75-second sneak peek at what’s ahead for our Mystic Falls gang, which we’ve graciously dissected for you below!

1. Is Elena moving on? In the first few seconds we hear dialogue from Elena where it sounds like she’s saying goodbye to Damon Salvatore. “I want to thank you for giving me everything I ever wanted: a love that consumes me, adventure, passion — there’s nothing more that I could have asked for,” she begins. “Except for it to last forever.” Well, if you had hopes that Elena would be moving on — silly you — it looks like homegirl has resorted to throwing rocks through a church window to process everything.

2. Mystic Falls is (still) magic-free. Elena’s voiceover at :17 lets us know that Mystic Falls is still a magic-free zone and that the humans are enjoying what’s probably the safest city on Earth. A safe city for picnicking and jogging? Can we move to the fictional Virginian hamlet?

3. Caroline is hurt by Stefan. Around :21 we see Caroline Forbes meeting up with Alaric Saltzman to discuss Stefan Salvatore. Apparently Stefan left without even telling Caroline goodbye, which majorly bums us out considering their adorable cuddle session toward the end of Season 5.

4. Stefan is making out with someone! Before we can even process our feelings alongside Caroline, the video shifts to Stefan at :24 and we see him making out with Emily C. Chang (Ivy) in bed. “Quintessential girl next door with an unexpected wild side” hits the nail on the head with this new chick, doesn’t it? While the two look poised to share some pillow talk, Ivy asks Stefan to tell her something about himself that she doesn’t already know and he flat-out tells her he’s a vampire.

5. Something is in Mystic Falls — but what? Around :31 we see some harmless campers trying to have a little fun in their vampire-free woods. It isn’t long until we see a creepy shadow dash around the tent and freak these folks out. Don’t bet on these randos to last very long!

6. Elena is feeding on people. This one is pretty self-explanatory, but Caroline starts freaking out about it around :42. Clearly Elena isn’t on the rabbits-only diet and is enjoying some tasty blood straight from the neck — wouldn’t Damon be so proud?

7. Man candy. The rest of the video just rehashes footage that we saw in the first trailer. Some of those key points are Elena’s drug problem, Elena confronting Luke (Chris Brochu) and threatening him, Jeremy Gilbert drinking his sorrows away, and Damon telling Elena to move on. The only other thing we’re excited about from this video is the blink-and-you-miss-it shot of Tyler Lockwood doing a pushup and showing off his werewolf muscles. We’ve been waiting all summer for that, duh!
