Steroline's Friendship Is Over!

Vampire Diaries Spoilers: Is Caroline and Stefan's Friendship Over?

The Vampire Diaries was pushing romantic Steroline pretty hard at the end of Season 5, which made us think Season 6 might be The Season of Steroline. But now we’re not so sure. What did E! Onlinejust tease about Stefan and Caroline in the upcoming season ofTVD? Read on to find out!

According to the site, there is “no plan in sight for any kind of Stefan/Caroline romance.” Worse that that, their best friendship is also on the rocks! Julie Plec told E! Online: "Caroline isn't going to let Stefan off the hook very easily. In fact, his determination to move on and start a new life after the loss of his brother may ultimately ruin the friendship he's built with her over the years."

No! The Steroline friendship is one of our favorite things about TVD. They are always there for one another — no matter what. It is one of the most angst-free relationships on the show. It troubles us to hear that their friendship is in danger. Then again, it could make for some excellent television. And we have always loved the way Caroline holds her loved ones to such high standards. Never change, Care Bear. Never change.

As for the no-go romantic news, we’re kind of surprised. We thought TVD would be all about the Steroline in Season 6. On the other hand, this could be a slow burn sort of situation. TVD has never made it romantic revelations very easy for its characters. If Steroline is Season 6 endgame, then they very well might start off the season estranged.

Or perhaps TVD really is eschewing a romantic Steroline. Though we’re open to seeing where this Steroline thing goes, we’ve outlined before why we love their friendship so much — and why it might be best to keep their relationship strictly platonic. Then again, that ship may have already sailed, with Caroline recognizing her feelings for Stefan at the end of Season 5. So much relationship drama to sort out! We can’t wait...
