"Wish Lists"

'The Vampire Diaries': Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder, Paul Wesley give us their season 6 wish lists

PAUL WESLEY
Between witches, werewolves, and mysterious travelers, it’s no secret that supernatural abilities run amok on The Vampire Diaries, and while the jury’s still out on how our resident Mystic Falls gang would fare without their own superpowers, actor Paul Wesley thinks it would definitely be fun to watch. “I really think in season 6 they should just take away all the powers on the show — no vampires, no witches — they should all be gone and everyone should go back to being normal, and then we’ll see what happens. I think Stefan would do great, he would do wonderfully, but Damon would be a disaster.”

NINA DOBREV
Despite the fact that Elena Gilbert has done a lot of growing up since the series started, actress Nina Dobrev is hoping her character will finally see some of her long-term wishes come to fruition. “She’s really blossomed into this strong woman since the show began, so I’m excited to see her hopefully have a departure and a closure from this world. Hopefully that means she’ll get everything she ever wanted, which was really just a family, and stability, and love, and her friends, and everyone’s safety.”

IAN SOMERHALDER
While Ian Somerhalder jokingly hopes that the season 6 opener finds Damon “in the Bahamas, drinking rum” — because “it’s been a tough five years for him” — the actor says his one wish for all the characters is that they’ll figure out how to live happily. “Damon, Stefan, and Elena, they’re all extraordinarily different people, but hopefully, what happens is that in some crazy, cohesive way, they all get to live their lives in a very harmonious way. The problem is, it’s Mystic Falls, and harmony does not work within this spectrum, so it’s probably going to be more jagged and somewhat abrasive. There’ll be bits and pieces layered in there that are going to be pretty and soft, but ultimately, if you’re happy in Mystic Falls, there’s no drama, and if there’s no drama, there’s no show.”
