Vampire Diaries Spoiler: Caroline's Love Story Will Be "Meaningful and Organic"

 

The Vampire Diaries have been teasing a possible romantic development between bestie vampires Caroline  and Stefan all season — and it sounds like the issue will finally be talked about in the Season 5 finale, airing tonight. What did executive producer Caroline Dries have to say about a possible Steroline development?
While Caroline wouldn’t go into details about the exact nature of how Steroline is addressed in tonight’s season-ender, she did check in with TV Guide about Stefan and Caroline’s respective feelings about their former flames: "[Stefan and Elena's] relationship has evolved so much and they share such mutual respect for each other that we wanted them to have a meaningful friendship moving forward... but in terms of romance, at the moment at least we said he's moved on."
Caroline (the executive producer) added about Caroline (the character): "I don't think she's going to rekindle things with Tyler, but we don't want to rush her into anything either. We want every step of her love story — with whomever it's with — to feel meaningful and organic."
So, it sounds like both characters are ready to move on past their former loves — but does that translate into them getting together? We doubt it will be addressed in any major way in tonight’s episode, given that Stefan is currently dead and the entire fang gang have the collapse of the Other Side and the possible elimination of magic to worry about over any romantic entanglements. That being said, we do know that Caroline will have her sights set on someone in Season 6. Does this refer to Stefan or someone else? For better or worse, we think it’s a distinct possibility.
