Who Does Ian Somerhalder Ship on The Vampire Diaries?

The Vampire Diaries cast gathered in L.A. over the weekend for their very own PaleyFest TV panel. During the course of the Q and A, Ian Somerhalder (Damon) admitted which couple he thought was “pretty cute together” — and it’s probably not who you think!

According to Buzzsugar, Ian was chatting about his on-screen brother Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Caroline (Candice Accola): "They're pretty cute together, aren't they?" Ian said of the might-be couple, who have been growing ever-closer in recent episodes.

What did Julie Plec have to say about the potential romance brewing between these two besties? "She and Stefan have a lot to do together in the next couple episodes," Julie teased, without confirming or denying a Steroline romance. We will say that, in the synopsis for Thursday’s episode, Caroline and Stefan “share a special moment of friendship.” Euphemism or awkward phrasing? We’re leaning towards the former.

Paul was a bit more forthcoming with his thoughts on a potential Steroline romance: "Yeah, yeah, yeah," he said. "I'm friends with Candace's fiancé, [and] he might punch me in the face.” Sounds like Steroline might be transforming into something other than best friendship.
