The Vampire Diaries Promo: Season 5, Episode 16 "While You Were Sleeping"

Elena Gilbert is in for a rude awakening when The Vampire Diaries returns for Season 5, Episode 16 (“While You Were Sleeping”). Not only did Katherine ruin all of her relationships, but she also left her body with a parting gift — the ripper vampire virus. Yes, Elena is now a vampire ripper. And it doesn’t look like she’s reacting well to the virus in Episode 16.

In the promo for “While You Were Sleeping,” Elena looks worse for wear as she adjusts to her new cravings. But if there’s one good thing the vampire ripper virus has done for Elena, it’s bring her closer to fellow vampire ripper Damon. And it looks like she still loves him — despite the fact he recently went on a killing spree, starting with Aaron Whitmore. Unfortunately, Damon is still pushing Elena away. Ugh. Will Damon ever get over himself?
