Nina Dobrev and Zach Roerig Get Muddy For Spartan Run 

Vampire Diaries stars Nina Dobrev (Elena Gilbert) and Zach Roerig (Matt Donovan) may just be as invincible as their on-screen counterparts. Over the weekend, they both took part in a Spartan Run, a five-kilometer obstacle course, and they survived!

“SPARTA!!!! #TeamJones #KilledIt Sunday. 5k Obstacle Course Mud Run Race-Climbing Walls, Ropes, Barb Wire, Fire, Ice Water etc.. #MusclesScreaming,” Nina captioned the WhoSay photo montage of herself and her teammates muddy, but victorious at the race.

We are very impressed. And very moved — for several reasons. Firstly, because we love any and all examples of TVDers being besties off-camera, which Nina and Zach’s team-up totally counts as. Secondly, because their team — Team Jones — was named in honor of Sarah Jones, the 27-year-old former TVD camera assistant who was killed by a train on a film set only weeks ago.

This isn’t the first time Nina has impressed us with her sporting skills. The former rhythmic gymnast is super athletic (not to mention flexible). In February, she participated in another Celebrity Beach Bowl game. And Zach is no stranger to the intense obstacle course scene. In 2011, he and co-star Matt Davis (Alaric) participated in a Tough Mudder competition, aka a 13-mile mud-filled obstacle course event that raises money for the Wounded Warrior Project.
