The Vampire Diaries Season 5: Who Will Die Next?
The Vampire Diaries loves to kill characters off. It’s the price of admission for a supernatural universe populated with vampires, werewolves, and witches. But who will be the next to go?
Nadia
It’s not looking good for Nadia. She’s a relatively new character who has aligned herself with our heroes’ enemies: i.e. her mother, Katherine. Right now, she stands between the Mystic Falls gang and Elena. She helped her mother possess Elena’s body, banish the excess doppelganger, and control Matt. The synopsis for Season 5, Episode 15 tells us: “while Nadia remembers her centuries-long search for her mother, Stefan, Caroline, and Matt come up with a plan to save Elena’s life.” We have a feeling that Elena’s desperate friends may use Nadia for leverage, and that it might not end well for the Traveler vampire.
Dr. Wes
We love Dr. Wes, but he’s a loose cannon who is totally on the more homicidal of the TVDers’ radar. Right now, he’s under the protection of the Travelers, but that’s the only thing that’s protecting him from the combined wrath of Damon and Enzo. Now that he’s turned Damon into a vampire cannibal, we’re guessing Damon is only be even more excited to enact revenge against the vampire experimenter. How long will the Travelers protect Dr. Wes? For as long as he’s useful to them — but might his usefulness soon run out?
Katherine
Let’s face it: Katherine’s living on borrowed time — or, more accurately, stolen time. The TVDers haven’t shown much concern for keeping Katherine alive and, if forced to choose between Katherine and Elena, they are going to choose Elena. Damon has tried to kill Katherine for a lot less. We’re not sure what the details of Elena’s return will entail, but we know that there are two Petrova doppelgangers and only one body. If Elena comes back, we’re not sure how Katherine will be able to cheat death again.
Tyler
Tyler’s story arc this season has been worriedly erratic. He broke up with Caroline to go after Klaus, was promptly defeated, and returned back to Mystic Falls to find a world thoroughly changed. We’re not saying we don’t understand why his character has made these choices, we’re just not sure where he goes from here. It’s been awhile since TVD has killed off a main character, and if any of them is expendable, it might be Tyler. Sorry, bro.
