RIP beautiful Sarah Jones

Vampire Diaries Crew Member Dies, Executive Producer Julie Plec Confirms

Tragedy struck theThe Vampire Diariesfamily Thursday when one crew member passed away unexpectedly while on the set of another project. While there aren’t many details yet, showrunner Julie Plec has taken to Twitter to confirm the terrible news.
“The #TVDFamily lost a loved one today. RIP beautiful Sarah Jones,” showrunner Julie Plec tweeted early Friday morning.
Sarah Jones, a second camera assistant for TVD, was with another crew shooting the biopic Midnight Rider in Savannah, Georgia when she and other crew members were struck by a train during filming. The crew had been setting up a shot on train tracks when an unexpected train made its way down the tracks. WSAV reports that Sarah died while at least seven other crew members were injured.
Though Julie confirmed Friday morning, Steven R. McQueen (Jeremy Gilbert) took to social media on February 20 to share the terrible news.
“Truly saddened to hear about the passing of a friend… R.I.P. Sarah Jones,” Steven tweeted Thursday night.
With The Vampire Diaries well into its fifth season, it’s clear that the entire cast and crew of the CW show is like family. The actors and those behind the scenes are always hanging out and have grown close over the past five years — and that will continue now that the show has beenrenewed for Season 6.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Vampire Diaries family as well as Sarah’s close ones.
