Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev Back Together? Elena Says 'No, I Rather Date and Figure it Out' Ex-Boyfriend Damon Just 'Friends' with 'Vampire Diaries' Actress

It looks like Nina Dobrev is not rushing to get back together with Ian Somerhalder or date any other boyfriend contenders.

In a new interview with Extra TV's Mario Lopez, the 25-year-old "Vampire Diaries" actress talked about being single after dating Somerhalder for years and then breaking up.

When asked if there was anyone special in her life at the moment, Dobrev responded, "Me!"

"I'm not choosing to do anything. I'm just choosing to exist and see what happens," she added.

She said about the type of guy she dates: "Well, that's the whole part of dating. I'm trying to figure it out."

Nian fans were devastated when they found out that their favorite on-screen and off-screen coupleannounced their split in the beginning of May after the couple was dating for three years. The Daily Mail said friends believe it was because of the 10-year age gap between them and that Somerhalder was ready for marriage but Dobrev wasn't.

Dobrev talked about their funny skit at the 2014 People's Choice Awards when they got on stage to accept an award for Best Chemistry.

Nian [a popular nickname for the pair] confirmed that they broke up in real life [now on the CW show too] and made it funny. Then Somerhalder kissed Dobrev on the cheek.

"It's just honest. All it was was just honest. You call a spade a spade. I was trying to figure out, like what do you say in that situation?" Dobrev told E! News about the presentation.

"We were like, well, we're cool, we're friends and co-stars. He's a great person, I'm a great person... I mean, I think I'm pretty awesome. So it doesn't need to be awkward and I think everyone expected it to be so awkward. We made fun of ourselves and just had fun."

She continued: "If you're with someone for that long, there's obviously the qualities in them that you enjoy and that doesn't change just because you're not together anymore."

"I have an enormous amount of respect and love for him and everyone," she added. "That doesn't change, it shouldn't, otherwise why were you with them?"
