Nina Dobrev (Elena), Ian Somerhalder (Damon), and Paul Wesley (Stefan) spend a lot of time embroiled in romantic drama on The Vampire Diaries, which is why it’s so fitting that they talked first kisses with ClevverTV. What did the TVD stars say makes the best first kiss?
Ian denied the existence of a perfect first kiss completely, saying: “There is no perfect kiss. You put the word ‘perfect’ in front of anything, you’re labeling it. You’re judging it. Let’s just go for something that’s engaging and amazing possibly.”
Ian went on to talk about the power of a kiss, adding: “A kiss can be so much more intimate than anything else. It’s that physical charge between two people … At any given moment, a kiss can be amazing — whether it’s from a friend, a foe, a fan, a family member…” A fan, you say?
Nina tackled the question from the perspectives of her two characters: Elena and Katherine. While she said that Elena “doesn’t kiss and tell,” she was more open with Katherine’s opinion on the matter: “If she were just giving advice, would say, ‘Suck it up and get over it, and just get in there and attack,’” Nina mused before completely committing to the answer with a confident laugh: “She’d probably attack. It’s Katherine.” Oh, how we miss the vampiress.
As for Paul, he thinks there’s one key ingredient to a perfect first kiss: “I think that the perfect first kiss has to come from a moment of spontaneity. I don’t think you can plan the perfect first kiss. It’s pure spontaneity.”
